Yogurt Parfait

The Easiest (and Prettiest) Breakfast: A Simple Yogurt Parfait
Mornings can be a rush, right? I'm not always someone who has time to whip up an elaborate breakfast, but I also can't function on just a piece of toast. My perfect solution? The humble yogurt parfait. It feels fancy, it’s packed with goodness, and it takes about five minutes to make. It’s become my little morning ritual, a moment of calm before the day really begins.
Why This Simple Combo Works So Well
What I love most about a parfait is the perfect balance in every spoonful. You get the creamy coolness of the yogurt, the sweet burst of fresh fruit, and the satisfying, crunchy texture of the granola. It’s a full sensory experience that keeps me full and happy until lunch. It’s also endlessly customizable based on what’s in your fridge or what you’re craving that day.
Building Your Perfect Parfait
The process is almost too easy, but there's a tiny bit of technique to getting those beautiful, distinct layers. Here’s how I do it:
Add the honey to the plain yoghurt and mix well.In a clean tall glass cup, layer 1/2 cup of yoghurt at the bottom and allow to settle. Then place 1/4 cup fruits followed by 1/4 cup granola etc.Alternate the layers of fruits and granola/cereal etc with yoghurt until the glass is filled.Garnish with fresh herb leaves. Repeat the process for the second glass cup.Serve parfaits immediately to keep granola or cereal crunchy.
The Best Part: That First Spoonful
If you do it right, digging in is the best part. Here’s what you’re aiming for:
- The Crunch: That initial resistance from the granola, still perfectly crisp against the creamy yogurt.
- The Creaminess: The smooth, tangy yogurt, slightly sweetened with honey.
- The Freshness: The juicy, bright pop of flavor from the berries or other fruit.
- The Aroma: A light, fresh scent from the mint or basil garnish that makes it feel extra special.
My Favorite Combinations
Don’t be afraid to experiment! My classic is Greek yogurt with honey, strawberries, blueberries, and a maple-pecan granola. But when I want to mix it up, I love using peaches and raspberries with a sprinkle of cinnamon, or even a tropical version with mango, coconut flakes, and a macadamia nut granola. The glass is your canvas!
So next time you're staring into the fridge wondering what to eat, grab a glass and start layering. It’s a little act of self-care that pays off in every delicious bite.
